Default browser

How does one change the default browser? Neither 'Default programs'
nor 'Internet Options' -> programs tab seem capable of doing so.
Opera has a reminder to click a box if I want to change the default
to Opera, but it doesn't stick.

Almost on the bottom of the right corner of your start menu, there is a
button called "Default Programs" open it. Try something there.

You're welcome :)

I actually think of this more as a bug ... I wouldn't think setting my
default browser would require admin permission, would you? I mean, Windows
didn't make me click "run as administrator" to set IE as the default browser
......... Hopefully this will get fixed.

I submitted this as a bug and I may have used the word "antitrust" a couple
of times in my description of the problem, so we'll see if this is
addressed.

Yup, that worked, thanks! (Should have thought of that - obviously
not yet tuned into the 'vista way'!)

Running Firefox as admin and telling it to be the default browser didn't
work for me under RC1 (grr).

I had to do the following:

Start -> Default Programs -> Set program access and computer defaults ->
Custom -> Choose a default web browser -> Mozilla Firefox (tick)

This was also the only way I was able to prise the cold, dead hands of
Microsoft Media Player off my MP3s and redirect them to Winamp (finally).
Any other method seems to be deprecated.

Hope that helps.
