Hi all.
I have just installed Firefox 1.0 and set it as default browser, but now I
want to have IE6 again as default browser.
Now when I start IE6 (Win/xp pro sp2) also if I have selected the IE6
checkbox "check if IE6 is the defult browser" I have no messages, It seems
IE6 found itself as the default browser but it is not.
I have IE6 in italian, while Firefox in English.
Does it existst a way to rest IE6 as default browser ?

Tnx to all

From IE Help: To reset Internet Explorer settings

If you installed another Web browser after installing Internet Explorer and
Internet Tools, some of your Internet Explorer settings may have changed. You
can reset your Internet Explorer settings to their original defaults,
including your home page and search pages, and choice of default browser,
without changing your other browser's settings.

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab.
Click the Reset Web Settings button.

In IE select Tools>Internet Options...>Programs and then select

Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser

Hey there ... There is another way of doing this as well ... If you click
your start buttom , Do you see "Set Program Access abnd Defaults" ? It can
either be on your start menu or It also can be listed if you click start
buttom , follow by All Programs , Its listed in the same area where windows
update is ... Anyways if you notice this option try to load that program and
view the custom option , This will allow you to set default setting for IE
and others , Have a look

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Start | Run and type

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Open FF, click Tools, Options. On the General tab, uncheck "Firefox
should check to see if it is the default browser when starting." If IE
has the checkbox as you state above, it will take control when launched.

There might be an Italian version;
