I love the new split form functionality in Access 2007. However, I have an
issue with it that I have been unable to resolve. The datasheet view
provided in the upper portion (by default) of the form is great for
navigating the recordset, then using the detail form portion below to edit
the record. Or, rather, it would be save for one characteristic that I
cannot seem to turn off. Whenever a field is selected in either view, the
corresponding field is selected in the other view.
The problem is that when I edit a field partway through the record in the
detail form, the data sheet view shifts right to display that field, hiding
the part number and description fields in the datasheet view that I use for
navigation through the recordset. This is aggravating, because my detail
form has two memo fields which cause the navigation detail form fields to
scroll up out of view when the memo fields are edited. So, I have to drag
the datasheet view thumb to a position where I can see the navigation fields
before I can move to another record.
Since I do not use the datasheet for data entry at all, I would prefer that
the leftmost columns remain in view regardless of which fields I am editing
in the detail form view. I tried setting the Split Form Datasheet property
from Allow Edits to Read Only, but this had no effect. Anybody know if such
a property exists, and if so, where it is set. I can use VBA if it's only
accessible via code. Thanks.
