Decommisioning an active directory domain

I have 1 forest with 7 domains under it.

Our goal is to eventually have 1 Active Directory domain.
Our domain we eventually are going to move to is called
Domain1.

We want to get rid of Domain7. We have already added
Domain controllers for Domain1 in Domain7's office. We are
ready to decomission Domain7 now. What steps would I take
to do this cleanly and not leave any remnants of Domain7
around.

If I run DC promo that will get rid of the last Domain7
domain controller, but will it also close out that domain
completely?

Yes, by decommissioning each dc in each respective domain all the way down
to the last dc per domain that remove the domain in its entirety.
