Decoder Expiration Time????

I don't mean to duplicate posts but some of them have become quite nasty to
navigate.

My media center RC1 stopped working the other day with Decoder issues. At
first I thought it was hardware problems then I realized that my computer
recently downloaded a Windows Update and has ceased to work since then.
Reading some of these posts, I understand that there may be a time limit to
use the decoders in Release Candidate version 1.

Can anybody confirm this is the case?

Regards,
Greg

I found this below one of my embedded postings....sorry for the duplicate
posting :)

Yes Microsoft has confirmed that it does and that it does not timeout in the
RC2 or RTM release.
You can reset the clock back to before Nov1 or you can install another
decoder and make it the preferred decoder using the following Free 3rd party
Vista Decoder Utility. The XP decoder does not work with Vista even though
it looks like it does,

Thanks to JW for posting this for me.

Right now I'm running RC2 (OK I post to usenet using XP)
Does this mean I can still play DVD movies? (I don't use it much)
