Hi,
I'd suggest you go with the MS servers - you'll have more options in terms
of what you can do with your site (databases etc) and also find more help
on server issues, most of the guys in this group run MS servers.

I'm interested in signing up for 1and1.com and they have two types of
hosting which are Linux and MS. I have FrontPage 2003 and I'm also just
learning into doing WebPages and would like to have a Host to join. What I
like to know is which one would be good to use Linux or MS and the reason
why?

I do appreciate for the advice as what to select.

If you're just starting, your "web master life" will be much easier if you host on Microsoft based
server running FrontPage extensions. Even more so if you have 2000 or XP Pro as your operating
system and install IIS and create "server based" webs so you can check everything using your machine
before you "go live" with your site.

That said, either server version will fill your needs. All of my sites run on Apache / UNIX.
The only reason for this is that it is what I used / learned first.
Also, there are some advantages ( I think ) in using the web masters Control Panel on Apache / UNIX
especially when configuring cgi scripts, email accounts, pass word protecting directories etc..
