Corky

Please Help...When I first click on the Outlook icon I
get an error message

"Microsoft Visual C ++ Debug Library
Program C:\Progra~1\Micros~4\Office 10\Outlook.exe

Abnormal Program Termination"

then when I click ok it shuts off and when I click the
icon again it starts right up. This happens everytime I
use Outlook. I am not a programmer and am shutting down
properly..any help would be greatly appreciated. Using
Win XP and Outlook 2002

Didn't I answer this one a few days ago?

1) do you have VB or a programming program installed? That's why you get the
offer to debug.
2) what does the event viewer say is causing the error?

check the event viewer for the error - if we know the two exe or dll files
involved, we may know exactly what is wrong.

you can try renaming outcmd.dat and *.srs - both at C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook - it may work, it may
not. If not, we need the information from the event viewer.

My guess would be that you have Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiSpam installed.
If this is the case the problem is caused by the Norton AntiSpam-plugin.
Until Symantec updates this component the only way to disable the AntiSpam function completely is to rename the file "msouplug.dll".
If you give it a new name like "msouplug.dll.old" it will be easy for you to find it at a later time when a permanent solution to the problem has been released.
(The file mentioned can be found in the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Antispam\")
