Debug Assertion Failed! What is this?

Hello,
Yesterday and today I suddenly received this message while opening a webpage
at: http://www.jigzone.com/z.php?1E5KCG3X2505892ECE

Message received:

Debug Assertion Failed!

Then an error report window comes up, and won't let me even try to retry.
I have no idea where the Visual C++ documentation is and I am totally
baffled by this problem. It has just started happening. If I had never
visited Jigzone before, I would start thinking that caused it, but I have
been visiting there every day for their daily jigsaw puzzle for many months
and this never happened before yesterday morning.

The only thing I remember doing before Saturday is that Windows Update ran
and installed the latest updates Friday some time. But I doubt that would
have anything to do with it.

Any help or suggestions? I would like to know and understand what is going
on here if possible, and why, and how to correct the problem if possible.

With Firefox (a better browser), I first get this message:

"Oops,the puzzle has failed to start in a reasonable time. This could happen
if your are no longer connected to the internet or your computer has
problems displaying Java applets."

In about 30 seconds, the puzzle works.
