Dead Monitor

My Hp MX70 monitor died after suffering an odd problem. It would have
short periods of "static" like you might get on your TV when someone
is transmitting on a CB radio nearby. This morning I turned the
computer on and the monitor had that static and then totally died; no
lights, nothing. I plugged the power cord directly into the wall
outlet to make sure it was getting power, but nothing. My question
is whether it is my monitor or possibly the video card? Power
adapter? I hate to go out and buy a new monitor only to find out it
was something else.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Unplug the monitor from the computer, power the monitor up and let us
know what happens.

If you get absolutely nothing with the monitor unplugged from the
computer, the monitor is dead.
