DC Login

R

Ralph Shumway

I have a 2k server acting as a domain controller w/ AD and
out of 8 machines only 4 can now actively login. The
others login but cannot see any of the shares and it seems
that they really are not logging in but rather using
cached info.

I created a new user acct on the server and tried logging
the other machine in and it said domain not available.

I can pingthe server from the workstation.

Where can I start?

Make sure, your workstations are pointing their DNS settings to the internal
DNS server. Check EventLog on the server and workstations for more info. Run
dcdiag and netdiag (from support tools) on your DC's to get more info.
