DB2 under Windows XP Home Edition

I purchased a book (SAMS Teach Yourself DB2 universal database in 21days) to
learn DB2. The book comes with a CD-ROM that contains a trial version of DB2
V8.1. I have windows XP home edition version 2002 service pack 1 running on a
Dell dimension 2400. When I try to load the IBM DB2 workgroup server edition
version 8.1 I get this message "DB2 workgroup server edition is not supported
on this version of the operating system". Does anyone know if my operating
system should support the DB2 version that I am trying to load?

And what does the very nice book have to say about supported environments?

Open up and search through it. Can't be very good if it doesn't state the
Op Sys prerequisites!

Found a document on IBM site (DB2 Universal Database For Microsoft Windows -
operating system prerequisites) that DB2 VSE cannot run on Windows Home
Edition

There you go!

Universal Database [or DB2 as it was formerly known] is not quite the be all
solution IBM wants us to think.

You may just find a free download of Version 8.2 on the IBM site
