DB Locking Issues

My database is store on a server that went down temporary and now when i try
to open my database i got a message about a serious error occurring and would
i like to continue to open it. I click Yes and i get an error report log. I
went into the Help menu and enabled the database and a attempted to repair it
but it does not help. I noticed that the record lock tha tappears when the
database is still open is still open. Is there a way to unlock it? Please
HELP!!!

You can try deleting the .LDB lock file, and see if that will let you in.
However, I seem to recall the message received, for this problem, is
different than what you are experiencing.

If the file is stored on a server, is there a recent backup copy available?

Thanks for the info but i still can't enter. I tried exporting info into a
new database, using Excel to read the data, opening the DB from the ODBC..
nothing. Can anyone think of anohter way to get into this database or at
least retireve the information and store it in a new database. I have a back
up db that for some reason has not backed anything up since May so i really
need to get back into this other db. PLease help!

Not sure where this thread is, so not sure what was done and not done...

Delete .ldb file (do NOT open the corrupted database), create a new database
and try importing all objects into it, then see if it opens. IMPORTANT: Do
not import any files starting with 'Msy', your new databse will create new
ones. To avoid those 'Msy...' tables select the ones you want to import
rather than clicking 'Select All'. I would not attempt this across the
network but by copying the database file on to my machine as if the network
hiccups again you're out of luck.

If that doesn't work, sounds like serious corruption and May might be it for
data, unless someone has a better idea.

yes, i copied it off the server to my desktop. Opened a new db and attempted
to import the tables/queries/etc. to no prevail.

Not sounding good... sounds like back-up from May or data recovery
services. Sounds like SERIOUS corruption! Hope someone else has an idea...

I created a second copy in another location on my computer and attemtped to
open it. It went as far as the login screen so to me it seems like the
corruptions lies in the security file. Is there a wa to remove the file and
test it?

I don't know how to remove that file... but if it let you go that far I'd
try to get the objects out of it...
