Day of week in notification ares

On my desktop computer with Win XP Home, the day of the week (Monday,
Tuesday etc) appears below the time in the notification area of the
taskbar. But, the day does not appear on my portable PC which also has
Win XP Home edition. How can I get it to display?

Is the taskbar on the Desktop double the height of the taskbar on your laptop? As in two rows high? Also, if you're using Large Icons in the Quick Launch bar, it will show the time and day, but not the date.

My taskbar is not 2 rows high.
How do I set the size of the Quick Launch Icons?

Right click in a blank spot of the Quick Launch bar and select View, Large Icons. You may need to unlock the Taskbar first.
