Dates Change to 1996 When Pasted

Carol

When I copy and paste cells or even a worksheet from one
workbook to another, the dates in the pasted cells change
to four years and one day earlier. I've had this trouble
before but can't remember if I fixed it or just worked
around the problem last time. Can't find anybody else
who knows how to fix this. Appreciate any advice I can
get. Thanks!

You are dealing with the 1904 issue. Under tools Options look for 1904 date
system. You have it set on one machine and not the other or you have taken
this file to or from a Mac.

Carol,

Check if one of the files has 1904 Date System turned on (Tools --
Options -- Calculations).

That was the problem! My file had been created on a Mac
then transfered to a Dell years ago. Thanks very much,
Carol

You can "correct" the dates by putting 1462 in an empty cell.

Edit|copy it.
Select the cells with the "bad" dates.
Edit|Paste special|click add

Then reformat those cells to the date format you like.
