date reformatting

I have a date m/d/yyyy and would like to convert it to mm/dd/yyyy. I tried
format-custom-mm/dd/yy but it is returning m/d/yyyy can someone help me out?

Sounds like the date is text.

Format to Date then re-enter according to your Windows short date settings.

Or try Data>Text to columns>Next>Next>Column Data Format>Date>MDY
