If you increase the size of the taskbar by dragging the top of it up it will
display the Day and Date. Other than that, there may be 3rd party software
to do this. There was in XP, I don't know about in Vista.

There is calandar and clock on sidebar.

yes, right click the side bar, then add gadgets and theres a clock and
calender that you can drag to the sidebar!

Let the mouse hover over the time, and hey presto - Date and day!!!!!

Lol, I stopped using the sidebar some time ago, so I didn't even think of
it. Thanks

Also, don't forget that gadgets can be dragged off the sidebar and put
wherever you want them on the desktop.
