Every time I restart my computer (XP) the date goes back
10 months but the day and time remain correct. What is
going on?

boy, i wish that was the case in real life.

do you have a program in the startup folder that might be changing the date?

or in msconfig / startup ?

maybe, but i don't know where those folders are. And i
don't think i would recognize a foreign file. Is it a
virus?

it's tough to say if it's a virus or not, do you have a virus checker?
go to START / PROGRAMS / StartUP

list all the programs there.

epson environment checker
acrobat assistant
adobe gamma loader
microsoft office

weird. im at a loss without physically sitting in front of your computer.

you can delete the microsoft office in the startup folder, that's pretty
much pointless and just causes unneeded overhead in Windows.

perhaps run ad-aware
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10214379.html?tag=lst-0-1
click "download"

maybe that might detect some spyware program running. if that's the culprit
