Date and time Settings wrong

B

BrianW

Each time I start my computer, my date settings revert to
the year 12003. I reset it with every start-up but it
always goes back to this year upon restart. I have
several computers running XP and have never experienced
this problem before. I'm using the Intel 875PBZ
moherboard. Another strange problem I'm having - my bios
settings are not being stored when I shut the computer
down. (althought the date DOES appear correctly every
time I enter the bios. The motherboard is only 1 month
old... Hmm... could it be the battery? I'm using the
latest bios. anyone else having the date problem with XP?
Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian,

I've just had a look at the intel website.

This board has had 13 bios versions since july 2003
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/bz/bz_bios.htm

Which version are you running ?

Do you possibly have the clear cmos jumper set if there is one ?

As for the battery it may be a dud, but if the time is displaying correctly
in the bios when you first startup it sounds like the time isn;t being
passed correctly to xp.
Bios update ?

Send it back - have known NOTHING but troubles with this board... Wait three
more months for them to finish debugging it then buy it again but for now
I'd send it back if you're able to. "Failure to perform as advertised" is
often good enough for Intel to take it back.

It's NOT good... The lab at the college had 30 of them shipped in for the CS
Majors Lab use. Not one remained longer then a week. *shudders*

Thanks Paul,

I've checked the jumper and it's set correctly. I just
updated to P14 bios (latest), I thought that would cure
the problem, but no luck. I'll keep searching....

I've built 3 computers with this board and have had good
luck with all of them..... until now.... I hate to send
it back, but am getting closer to doing just that, since
I still cannot find the problem.
....not giving up yet, though..
