Date and Time Properties

When my computer is left on, the date and time slow down
several hours in one day. Does anyone know how to fix
this problem so the computer keeps proper date and time?

How old is the computer?
It sounds like the motherboard battery needs replacing.

The computer is only about 2 years old. Do I need to look
at a new battery? It is a P4 Dell 4400 Dimension.

Yes, I'd certainly give it a go. The battery is more than likely the cause.
They aren't that expensive.
