Database view versus design view

Hi all -

I've set up a database which contains 100+ columns. The order of the columns
is important (things are grouped taxonomically), and these were set up in
Design View. However, when I switch to Database View, the columns are not in
the same order. It's driving me nuts because I can't easily navigate my data!

I also have a form for this data set. I wonder if setting up the form could
have affected the order of the columns in the database? (sheesh, I hope not!)

Any comments on
a/ how this may have happened?
b/ how to fix it quickly? (I can drag the columns back into the order I
want, but that could take a long time...)

Thanks,

This is not a database. This is a spreadsheet. The fact that you created it
in Access, doesn't change its essential character as a spreadsheet.

Here's a link to a download of a powerpoint presentation that should help
you understand the difference between spreadsheets and relational databases
and help you begin the process of resvising this to be a real database.

Hi George,

thanks for your response. You're absolutely correct, this is a spreadsheet
and not a database (the database contains other info about site locality,
habitat, and more).

I had a quick look through the information on the website from the link you
sent me. But I'm not sure how this helps with my original problem - how do I
get the columns in my spreadsheet back in order, without dragging them around
one-by-one?

Thanks again,

buggirl
