Database Corruption

J

Joan

Hi,

I have developed a system with backend database Access97.
Number of users that use the system is about 20. The
system has been run for about 3 to 4 years. As number
of users increase, the backend database sometimes
corrupted and finally it is needed to be rebuilt. The
frequency is about 1 to 2 times per month. Sometimes even
3 times. It's quite annoying. Can anyone tell me the
reason and how to prevent the corruption of database?

The following are some information of the DB
1. The size of database is about 200mb after compaction.
2. The system is written in VB 6
3. It is found that before the crash of db, users are
usually calling a crystal report(report writer of VB6 with
version 4.6).

Thanks a lot and thanks in advance.

Hi Joan,

Take a look at the article: HOW TO: Keep a Jet 4.0 Database in Top Working
Condition
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300216

It talks about Access 2000 but also applies to Access 97.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.
