Database available after using Enterprise Manager

I opened up the BCM database using Enterprise Manager to do a few special
queries. Now BCM won't let me access it. I have a copy of the MDF and LDF
SQL files, but I can't seem to get access to the DB.

Help??

What happens when you try to open BCM? Did you change any tables when
you opened it in Enterprise Manager?

NO changes whatsoever...simple did a Connect from Enterprise Manager, then
did some queries from Query Analyzer! Very frustrating that I can't somehow
restore the actual database file. Obviously, BCM knows it was opened in
another app and won't reopen it.

But what happens when you try to open BCM? Have you gone into Control
panels and into Mail and then into Data Files and tried to reassociate
your BCM database?

Been there, tried that! When I open up BCM, it tells me that the database
is SUSPECT and to either 1) Retry or 2) Cancel. It doesn't tell me why it
thinks it is suspect. If I press Retry, it just repeats the dialog. If I
press Cancel, it creates a new (empty) database :-(

If I try to use an "Existing Database", I can only select the bad one from
the dropdown list (the one it's complaining about). Like I said, I have a
copy of the MS SQL mdf and ldf files, but have tried in vain to restore
them.

Why does it think the database is SUSPECT??

I was able to get it back. I did:

1) Uninstalled BCM completely and reboot
2) Reinstall BCM and have it create emtpy database
3) Shut down BMC
4) Go to Control Panel | Mail | Data Files and Remove the MSDE database for
BCM
5) Reboot (since BCM won't unlock database once it's used)
6) Copy my SQL mdf and ldf files to the proper directory, overwriting the
BCM ones
7) Go to Control Panel | Mail | Data Files and add the MSDE database for BCM
8) Restart BCM
9) Do a backup of the database from BCM :)

Notice that I did not restart BCM between steps 3 and 8. It appears
everything is working ok.
