After a system restore windows Xp home edition opens with
data1.dat not found? Any thoughts on how to fix this.

Windows is looking for something that is being called to start with the
system. Go to Start>Run and type "msconfig". Look on the Startup tab
for the likely culprit and uncheck the box. Click Apply and OK out.
