data1.dat was not found

Getting WUPDATER error during Windows (2000 Pro) startup.
Occurs at every Windows re-boot. The error message
appears in a WINDOWS pop up error message saying:

data1.dat was not found

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think this is a Windows Update problem, as far as I know wupdater is
spyware of some kind. One of the other MS
newsgroups is more likely to be able to help:
