data truncating in merge

Anthony

We are merging from an Excel Database into Word. The Excel database contains
numeric and text cells (descriptions of models). When performing the merge,
some text cells, only a portion of the data is transferred into the merge
master file (our template model file). The records where this happens, the
amount of data in the cell isn't longer than in other cells, and there is no
formatting issues that we can see. Any idea why all the text data won't
transfer?

1. Which version of Word/Excel?

2. How are you connecting to the data source (DDE/ODBC/OLE
DB/Converter/don't know)

3. Is the problem that texts longer than around 255 characters /in a
particular column/ are truncated? If so, do the first 8 cells in the
column have texts of 255 chars or shorter?
a. if so, the problem is explained in
http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0003.htm (but a good solution may not be
straightforward)
b. if not, can you give some examples of what is being truncated?
