Data transfer to another Computer

How do I transfer all of my data from my old hardrive to my new hardrive
after purchasing another computer desktop but using only one monitor?

Details: I have an old HP Pavilion xl844 and just bought Compaq Evo D510s
online and want to have all my music, files, and application transfered to
the Evo. HP Pavilion is my first computer bought in 2000 and Evo (it's not a
tower but one of those desktop types, purchase from an auction) will be my
second computer and I don't want to just lose all my important files from
Pavilion. I am running Windows XP Pro on the Pavilion. Thank you.

Most applications can not be transferred as they are not only dependent on
the files associated with the application but also registry entries.
Some of the registry entries will be obvious others will not.

Data, music files, Etc: the simplest way is to burn them to a CD and use
that as your means of transfer.

Insert the old hd in the new machine, if there's room physically for
it. Click/drag or Copy/Paste the music, and other data to the new hd.
Remove the old hd.
