I'm trying to enter an amount in a Column labeled "Limit"...I've tried changing the cell's format but no matter what I do, the data shows up as ####. How can I change this to reflect the actual numbers?

If it isn't the column width, I have occasionally come across this in a very complicated XL97 workbook. I don't know the reason, but it seems almost as though the spreadsheet has used up all of the resources available for displaying data.
I usually found that restarting the computer did the trick, but if that doesn't work, I'm sorry I can't offer anything else.
The only times I've seen ##### display in cells is:
1. You have a number formatted as date or time and you have a negative number
in that cell (with 1904 date system unchecked in tools|options|Calcuation tab)
2. You have a number in a cell and it's not formatted as General (like Number,
2 decimal places) and the columnwidth is too skinny.
3. You have lots of text (not numeric) in the cell and it's formatted as
Text--formatting to General will fix this one.
