A good data mining software for XP (or full text retrieval)?

What kind of data do you have? Which sort of aggregation do you need?

There was a thread starting Dec 1 withe the ibject: Need recommendation
for "easy to use" neural networks which you should read. You might also
try Google, as a recommandation

Hm. There's some free software for *nix systems (like ht://Dig or
mnoGoSearch) which provide mighty text retrieval/analysis. The
latter also has two Windows versions. But these are not free...

Maybe you have to stick to indexing desktop search engines like
Copernic desktop. There are several free (for personal use) ones
out there. You also might get something from WinXP internal file
indexing.

Depending on your real needs a concordance program like ConcApp
can come handy, too:

Question is what you understand with data mining. The freewares in the
site mentioned are more or less (?) data extracting and reporting tools
for large databases. For data mining, as I learned it, this is the first
step only. The second step would be a statistical analyses to find
trends, common patterns, typologies.

Hi Frank - I'm certainly not familiar with all (or even most) of them, but
by description some would appear to have those capabilities also. I think
the OP will just have to do some "hands-on" investigating to see to what
extent they meet his/her needs.
