Data import utility

J

John

Hi

From time to time we are required to import external data into our access
app. I am wondering if there is any utility available for this purpose. What
we need is a) mapping of fields between access table and external data and
b) duplication test on user specified combination of fields.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Regards

Take a look at Metamorphosis on my website. It meets most basic
requirements.

Learn a real ETL tool-- like DTS or SSIS

Jet is ****ing stupid, it doesn't have the basics of any professional-

Jet doesn't support code reuse

Of course not. That's not it's job. And nether is basic SQL Server.

Another totally incomprehensible comment. Are you regurgitating buzzwords in the
hope that they will baffle the readers?

why do you insist that people use Access for ETL, when it doesn't
include basic ETL capabilities?

John,

Not sure if you go an answer to your question so I'm here to tell you what I
do... I needed to bring in EDI files and map them a several tables in an
Access database. Of course, this only works if there is a Prmary Key. I
set it up so when the database opens it transfer the file (that I set up to
export once files are recieved EDI). There is also a button one can press
should they want to check that they have the most current transaction.
Would something like that work for you?
