data base was created with access 2003

my data files was saved in 2000,but i want it saved in 2003 I changed the
default to 2003 but the file won't change over . can someone help
 
Changing the default file format does not change existing databases. It
changes the file format that is used when NEW databases are created.

If you want to change the file format of EXISTING databases, you need to use
Tools: Database Utilities: Convert Database from the menu in design view.
Then choose the option: To Access 2002 - 2003 File format ...
