Data Analysis with Excel 2007

Hello.
At home I have Office 2007 and I have some questions on being able to
run a multiple regression model with Excel 2007.

- In my work copy of Excel 2003 I woudl typically go to Tools and then
Data Analysis to be able to run a statistical analysis. If data
analysis was not installed/available I would click Tools and then Add-
Ins for the Analysis ToolPak.
Can I assume that Data Analysis is probably not included by default
with a typical Office 2007 install? How do I go about enabling it in
Excel 2007?
- As for a multiple regression model, I have data that includes
character data (i.e. gender, color, etc). How do I handle column data
that is character as a statistical analysis only works on numerical
data?

Actually I found the answers I need. Thanks anyway!!

I do have one related question though----if I'm running a multiple
regression and I have two columns of qualitative variables I need to
change those variables into numerical data.
Let's say I have data for a person's gender (m/f) and data for colors
(black/white). I can change the gender to 0 and 1. Can I also use
the same values of 0 and 1 for the colors or should I instead use 3
and 4, for instance. Does it matter in the Excel results?

The specific values that code your qualtative levels are immaterial to the
ANOVA (analysis of variance), but would change the interpretation of the
regression coefficients (which you may not care about).

If you do care about the regression coefficients, then you would typically
use either 0,1 or -1,1 for your coding.

Click on the round Office Button>Excel options>Macros>addins>bottom of
Page>Manage Excel Addins>Go>click Analysis Toolpak>OK>
On the Data tab a new group will appear at far right called Data Analysis.
