Damaged mbr - "lost" a logical drive - How can I recover it?

I was attempting to enlarge my XP Pro partition because it was too full using
a 3rd party program. The program ran but wouldn't/couldn't change the
partition with XP on it - it told me to do it manually. Like a bonehead, I
did so - deleting the mbr and boot.ini etc in the piocess. I have
reinstalled XP on the largest partition [where I wanted to merge it, anyway],
but now it no longer recognises the 2nd partition of my 2nd HDD [slave].

1. XP recognises that partition is there, but labels it RAW and cannot read
it. Is there a way to get it back [it was NTFS and not reformatted in any
way since my duh moment]?

2. Is there a way to get XP to boot to my original installation or to copy
settings/installed programs/etc from there to the new installation? [That
partition also still exists and IS readable]

Doh! I was mistaken, I cannot start XP without running from the CD - the new
install doesn't work apparently, either!

Try using MBRWORK from the free utilities section at

Good luck
