Damaged Group Policy

I have a policy setup to "Run Only Allowed Windows Applications". I have a
huge list of .exe's added to it and it works great. However last Friday, all
apps from V-Z disappeared for no apparent reason. All i had to do was reenter
all of the .exe's into the policy and all is well again. What i am looking
for is a possible cause so i can prevent it from happening again. I have had
corrupt policies before but they were not at all accessible. this one worked
and still works fine, but some of the apps were missing...any ideas?

If you are running Windows XP, I suggest you do a backup using GPMC.
