D*mn virus! no desktop icons, no start button, no task manager

I know I have something, virus/malware/spyware whatever because it tells me
with big red letters on a black screen that I have to remove all spyware or
my computer will never run again that it will infect my boss, my family, my
children...

I tried starting using f2 and f12 and all I get is my desktop
picture..that's it. No icons, no start button, using control alt del I get a
messege saying that the admin shut it off.

Please help

NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription had
expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription has
since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows
Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: Format & reinstall
Windows. A Repair Install will NOT help!

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the
MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected
machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.

2. [WinXP ONLY!! =>] Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan
(only!) in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be:

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting requested logs
in an appropriate forum, not here.

Well...I guess I'm going to have to just eat it and send it out. You know
what's funny? My Mcafee started showing all these trojans etc just before
the crash.

Oh well...Thank you PA Bear..I think this is more then I can handle so I'll

Tip: I would NOT recommend using McAfee Security Center!

what you can try is to
boot in the safe modes
and if the nag screens
don't show up,

then you have 50% of
the problem solved
