D: Drive low disk space

I have a HP, and the D drive is a partitioned drive (Recovery (D It shows
1.00 GB free of 8.68 GB. I believe that it is an automatic backup. I did not
choose to backup my system to it. I don't know if this is a HP thing since
this is the first HP that I have owned and the first time I have used Windows
Vista.

that is your recovery parition.. some computer makers have the OS on a
partition so you can install (recover) it from there..


so dont touch that drive..

is this the one you want to have the full drive message stopped?

It is the HP recovery partition, and you are best to leave it well alone. In
the event that you need to do a full system recovery or repair, you will
need it. Do NOT add any files to it.

Yep Rose as the guys say--it's a Recovery partition HP provides in case your
system crashes and hopefully it would work although you're best off coming
here if you have that kind of crash.

You should have an application on your computer that will allow you to
create a recovery disk set, allowing you to delete that partition and merge
it into your C: partition. I can't remember what exactly it's called, but
it's an HP application that will only run once. I actually had trouble
creating the disks on mine and HP sent me a recovery disk set free of
charge. You can order a recovery set as well for a small fee. If you don't
want to mess with all that, though, follow the advice already given and
don't mess with that D: partition.
