Cyclic Redundancy Error

Outlook has been very sluggish and in fact makes my whole pc sluggish.

Recently when trying to do a search of my emails I got an error that
it couldn't access the .pst file due to a cyclic data redundancy. Is
there a way to fix this? It was actually happening earlier and I
uninstalled it and bought a fresh copy and reinstalled. Any thoughts
appreciated (well good ones at least )

Hmmm...I don't recall seeing that error before. What version of Outlook
are you using?

It looks like the PST file has gone corrupt. You could possible use a third
party tool to restore data

You might want to run chkdsk /r from a command prompt to see if your disk has some bad sectors.

I have never seen this but after a quick search this might be KB 319128.
Have you tried making a backup copy of the .pst and then running the
scanpst.exe tool on it.

Milly is right. This is the result of bad sectors on the harddrive where the
PST is located. Run the command Milly suggested and then use scanpst.exe to
try and correct any errors in the PST file - you may have to run it multiple
times.

Hmm, I don't seem to have scanpst.exe (Win XP). Is there a way do
download it?

It's usually in %CommonProgramFiles%\System\MSMAPI\1033 for U.S. English
installations.
