Cyclic redundancy check

I can not delete a folder becasue it says its not empty(but it is). I have
tried to delete from the command prompt and that does not work either. I get
a CRC error. How can I delete this folder as I do not need to try and recover
it? Thanks for the help.

Forget about deleting your folder. Back up all your important
files while you can, then replace your hard disk. A CRC error
means that you have a number of bad clusters on your disk.
In many cases the damage spreads until the disk becomes
unreadable.

I just bought a 500mb external drive to do backups every night. My hard drive
is fully backed up now. Its not that old and is probably under warranty
(Dell) should I contact them first about this? Could I reformat the disk?
Thanks again for the help as you have helped me oin the past.

Yes, you should get in touch with Dell.

Yes, you can reformat the disk. If it was my disk then
I would not bother - IMHO the disk is now compromised.
