Customizing Windows - My Documents as a link from Start Menu

What is the path of menus to have "My Documents" open as a link? I did
it before but now am drawing a total blank. Also, how do you get
Control Panel to open without the directory tree or that menu that
changes with what you open?

For the My Documents question, try the following:

Right click the Start button and select Properties from the
menu.
This should bring up "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties".
Click on the Start menu tab.
Click the Customize button.
This should bring up "Customize Start Menu".
Click on the Advanced tab.
Change the selection for My Documents in the Start Menu items
box.
Click OK twice.

As for Control Panel, look in the left hand column and click on
"Switch to Classic View".

Good luck

Regarding your answer for Control Panel, where should I be looking in
the left hand column? Or, left hand column of what?

XP Start menu...
Right click Start button | Start Menu tab | Properties | Customize button |
Advanced tab | Check: Display as a link

Classic Start menu...
Right click Start button | Properties | Start Menu tab | Customize button |
UNCheck: Expand Control Panel

Expand Control Panel
[[Specifies whether to display the contents of Control Panel in a menu
instead of a window.]]

Hope this helps. Let us know.
