Customizing Motion and Transitions

I want to change the length slides are displayed and transition effects
("customize motion") FOR ALL the slides in a story. As best I can tell this
has to be done manually with each slide, and I understand how to do that.
However, this is incredibly tedious with large stories. Is there any way to
apply the settings chosen for one slide to ALL of the slides? If not, there
should be!!

get the TweakPS utility from Mark Coffman... there's a link on my Photo

I downloaded the setup file per your suggestion. However, it is asking for a
netframe which it cannot locate on the web (1.1). I went to the Microsoft
website and downloaded a 2.0 netframe but it does not work. I gather one
needs the exact edition of the netframe in the popup? Suggestions?

Thanks. Per my message to Papajohn, I downloaded the setup file for Tweaks.
However it is requiring a netframe to install. It cannot locate the
specific netframe on the web and the 2.0 version from Microsoft does not
work. Suggestions?

Hi, John. Bingo! I downloaded the netframe and everything went like
clockwork from there...

Well, almost. I created a Photo Story, edited it with music, and saved it
as a DVD (off the "Computer" option). It won't play.

Any other suggestions? The file extension from Photostory is .wmv but both
of my DVD players (a Lite On and a Cyberhome) won't play it. One says "data
disc" and I note that the literature says the player won't play data discs.
But I have burned other "slide shows" in the same fashion ("data") without a
problem. Also, the player literature says it supports .wma but I don't see
anything about .wmv. Is there a critical difference here (I know one is
audio, the other video).

Also, in my burning options I have the choice of an "audio cd" or "data". I
guess I'm not sure what this is, since it has data (photos) and music. As I
said, I've followed the data path. I've tried both CD and DVD (I understand
the +- issues) and neither works.

Any ideas? Am I saving the right way in Photo Story?

Slide shows are just image files...some DVD
players recognize JPEG files. A movie file is
a different story.

Your saved .wmv file is fine. The problem is
that you need to create a VCD or a DVD if
you wish to play the movie in a dvd player.

There is a plug-in available for PhotoStory 3.

Sonic DVD for Photo Story 3 for Windows
http://www.estore.sonic.com/enu/photostory/default.asp

more info;

Most DVD players will play a VCD...
check the manual for your DVD player
for compatibility. A VCD is a Video CD
created on a CD instead of a DVD.

I've had success with a program called
'InterVideo WinDVD Creator'...there are
many others...'NeroVision Express'...is
another example. The main thing is the
program must be able to create a VCD
or DVD from a .wmv video file.

This is a .jpeg slide show with music. I think the problem I am having may
be related to my burner, which is a free internet program called
"Deepburner." In looking at the comparisons with the professional
subscription version, the free one does not support "Video DVDs". Except I
have burned other video projects, including jpeg slide shows (sans music)
without a problem, both to CD and DVD.

Also, per previous message, when you save a photostory it asks you for the
type of format you will be using and allows a "settings" change to format for
DVD. I assumed this would put it in the proper format that the burner would
recognize and cooperate with.

I will check out the plug-in you mention, but I'm thinking I need to get
something like Nero.

Thanks again.

A project created with PhotoStory 3 is a
..wmv *movie* file...that is quite different than
a simple JPEG slide show.

Nero would be a good choice if it includes
NeroVision Express.

Maybe these links will offer some ideas:

User Guide for NeroVision Express 3

The following info is for NeroVision Express
2 but I suspect the info could still be useful:

Here's some more info on Sonic:

John, I grabbed the Sonic utility for $20 and it took me to the burn
stage...and got a gray screen not allowing me to burn. I looked at the FAQ
on this and have concluded that my burner is outdated (even after I upgraded
the firmware). So tomorrow it's down to Best Buy to purchase a Plextor 760A
and a Sony DRU-830, both of which have very good reviews. Hopefully this
will finally put DVD Computer Wars to an end!

I had burned some other DVDs for friends and they were reporting problems in
playback, so perhaps this will be solved as well.

Thanks so much for your help and sticking with the topic.

John, I bought the LG GSA-H10L burner (top-rated in PC World -- Please see: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,123931;page,1/article.html and installed it myself, which was easy to do. It included Nero Express software which seems to work well. I recommend this burner, which has 16X DVD/48X CD capability. I paid $82 at Best Buy, not on sale.

So, I managed to create a program with music, and edit the transitions and
motion the way I want. So all systems are go! I really appreciate you
sticking with me and would be glad to send you a copy of the finished
product if you leave me an address. Thanks again! Barry
