customizing desktop

Some time in the past I changed the settings for my desktop so that the names
of my icons would be boxed in in the color I choose. Right now I have the
"purple flower " picture for my background and my icon names are boxed in in
dark purple. I don't know how I got it to do this and my boyfriend would like
his desktop to be the same way. What do I do to enable this feature for his
desktop. Right now he has an ocean picture and would like his icon names
boxed in in blue. It makes them easier to read . We use the same computer
and I can't find the right place to change his so it is like mine.

I have a laser jet 5 set up as my default printer and a desk jet 540 which I
have just connected thru a USB parallel converter. Win XP loaded the
softeware for this converter cable. When I try to print from the deskjet the
page prints thru the laserjet only. Under the printer pop up menu I have
chosen the deskjet printer and the job appears on the queu, but does not
print out from the deskjet.

The item you are trying to change is:

Control Panel | Display | Appearance, change Selected Items in the drop-down
box.

NOTE:

This not only changes the desktop item, but anything you 'select' in windows
(Menu items, files, folders, ...)
