Customized icons in Favorites menu

I noticed that some websites I add to my favorites list display a
personalized icon, which is somewhat cool. However, these always dissappear
after a few days, replaced by Windows's standard icon for html files :( .
Is there a way to have those customized icons "stick" in place?

Take care

Download and run FavOrg, which will scan your favorites on line and
extract any specialized icons, then protect them. Line 108:

create a new icon folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\1_myicons

this puts folder at top of list

after adding site to your favorites list do this:
---------------------------
tools ->
internet options ->
general tab ->
settings button ->
view files button
-------------------------------
find the icon in temp list. (see name column for "icon")
copy icon (right click)
paste icon into your new folder (C:\.\.\1_myicons)
rename icon (example: sitename.ico)
go back to site in your favorites list
right click to properties and change icon to the new
sitename.ico
---------------------------------------------------
you will want to make favorites links to these two
directories:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\1_myicons
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files

this makes finding them faster.

there are 3rd party programs that will do this for
you but you need to download them and run each time.
this is free and takes no space and is just as easy.
