customize windows explorer

R

Ron Patterson

I had both these things working and lost them and forgot how I did it:

#1 - How do I get a Windows Explore icon on my desktop
#2 - How do I customize Windows Explore to open to the C drive instead of
the default My Documents I remember that I can go Start/Run and type
explorer /e,C:\
and it will open just where I want it. But I can't make this the default.

Hi Ron,

#1. Go to Start>Programs>Accessories and right-click on Windows Explorer
icon, then select Send To>Desktop (create shortcut)

#2. Right-click on Windows Explorer icon and select Properties. In the
Target field, ensure that it says:
%SystemRoot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e, c:
Click on Apply (if available) then OK.

Hi,

1) Drag & drop it from the All programs/Accessories menu.

2) Right-click the icon, choose properties. In the target line, change it to
your liking.

Duh, I no longer have an Explorer icon in Start/Programs/Accessories.
Now I think I recall robbing it from there to drag on to my desk top.
How do I get it back.

You de man Nutty! Well done. Don't know why I never thought of searching
for explorer.exe and just making a shortcut. Thanks.
