Customize right-click pop-up menu?

Can one customize what commands pop up in the menu when one right clicks on a
doc? Thank you. JJS

Assuming Word 2003, yes. Choose Tools - Customize - and click on Shortcut
Menus. You'll then get a Popup that contains access points for Text, Table,
and Draw shortcut (right button popup) menus. You might need to experiment
some to figure out what controls what, since the labels are a bit cryptic.

When you find the desired target popup menu, drag commands from the Commands
tab in the Customize dialog and drop them where desired.

For Word 2007 changes to the right click menu require a bit of VBA (macro) work rather than making changes in the Word Options. MS

No. Word 2007's popup menus aren't customizable using the interface. You'd
need to delve into VBA for that.

NICE! MSW 2007 becomes *less functional*, requiring programming skills to
perform formerly available customizing functions.

Good reason to stick with 2000 or '03 in my book.

Absolutely. If the version of Word you have is the right tool for accomplishing what you need, then, yes, why change what works for
you

The mention of using VBA to modify the right click menu wasn't meant as a 'warning', more of advising that modifications are still
possible
I suspect, that just as there has been a Word Add-in created to allow you to remove individual 'Recently Used' choices in the Office
Button[File] menu from a form

that some enterprising individual, could, if the need is seen, make a similar add-in to allow you to choose modifications to the
right click menu from a form as well.

Depending on individual needs for various features in Office 2007, this version, as with each successive prior version, can be seen
as having more or better features - or less, or just ones that are handled differently For some folks the combination of
features in the Office 2007 desktop and Server products are ones they needed, for other folks, there isn't a need to 'change' from
whatever their current version may be, including 'none' There were features that I used in Word 6, 95 and 97, that went away in
Word 2000, that I'd still like to have back, but on balance, I'll take the new version (although that wasn't my first reaction to it
<g>)

In too many companies, Office app features are locked down, for a variety of 'carefully researched' reasons <g> such that a great
number of folks may not be aware that there have had any 'loss' of functionality. There is likely a comparitively low percentage
of folks who have customized their 'right click' menus, compared to, say, having added an icon to a toolbar, which is (arguably)
still possible (at least in some form) in Word 2007
