Customised design templates 2003

I have a company template and templates downloaded from the internet but they
do not show in the Design task pane.

If I select File, New, Templates On My Computer they are displayed on the
general tab. The Microsoft designs, which do show in the Design task pane,
are displayed on the Design Templates tab.

When I create the template, I selected Design Template as the file type and
saved it in the default templates folder – the path is C:\Documents and
Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.

What am I doing wrong and how can I get my template to show in the Design
task pane?

Very frustrating because I used to be able to do this!!

Depends on where you put the template on your system. Form within PowerPoint,
when you save a file as a Design Template (.pot) file PowerPoint normally stores
it in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. If stored there, it will
show up when creating a new presentation form a template.

That's where I put it! I hav now discovered that I need to exit PP and
reopen for it to show up in the list.

That is probably by design. Now that you have saved it, does it appear each time
you open PowerPoint and select new from Template?
