Custom Paper size

I have an Epson FX-850 Dot Matrix Printer. I want to
print a custom paper size 8.5 Wide x 7 Long. I
understand that in Windows XP I need to go to

Control Panel->Printer->File->Server Properties->Input
paper name and size->save. This works fine.

When I have completed the above steps, I am supposed to
right click on the printer driver, click properties and
select the paper I just created. However the paper I
just created is never available. Do you know what I'm
doing wrong or why it is not showing up.

In windows 98, I was able to go to the printer properties
and set a custom paper size but it doesn't work in
Windows XP. I then tried a different printer. A brother
HL-1435 laser printer. I have the same problem. I can
add the form using server properties but when I go to the
printer properties, paper size, the new form is never
available in the drop down list.

Thanks
MA

It's possible the the driver doesn't support that size. Especially if it's
the driver that came with XP. To test it:
Choose a size that does display in the printer properties.
Then define a new paper size using those dimensions with a new name.
If this size shows up, then the driver doesn't support your 8.5 x 7.
You can try getting an updated driver from the printer manufacturer.
