Custom Hit Counter

I have a hit counter .bmp but when I try to add it in the dialogue box it
comes up
"please give filename for hit counter". What exactly does it want?
I have tried the full file path "C:\Documents and Settings\User\My
Documents\Radical Rooney\My Webs2\RR HitMeFP.bmp" and "RR HitMeFP.bmp" but it
will not accept them.
Any suggestions?
