Custom Bottons appearing

Every time I open my version of Excel 2000 a new button appears. The button
has a lable of "Custom". Everytime I close Excel and open a new session a
new button is added. So far I've let it get up to 10 buttons before I drag
them off. The only way that I know how to get rid of them is to go to
"Tools>Customize" and then drag each new botton down to the "Customize" pop
up window.

I've had Excel 2000 for several years now and this is only just beginning to
happen. Any ideas?

Thanks Dave,
That did the trick. I found a Designer.xla file in the XL Start folder and
the problem went away. Excel starts up much faster now as well.

I also just noticed the same problem in Word. There was a DSWORD97.dot file
in the startup folder.

I didn't know any of this existed.

PC's are magic!

(And sometimes, it's bad mojo.)
