Custom Animation Problem

Alison

I am working with PPT 2007 and I want to create a custom animation with
a photo. I want the photo to fade-in large in the center of the slide,
then shrink down 70% and move to the side.

So I start with the "Fade" Entrance, then I apply the "Grow/Shrink"
Emphasis. By default it grows 150%, but when I click on the pull-down
menu to change the percentage all the options are ghosted. And when I
finally get to where I can change the Grow/Shrink percentage I lose my
Fade (it actually over-writes the fade with another Emphasis). And if I
apply the Emphasis first then add the Fade it won't allow me to move the
Fade up in the order.

It appears that I can add and adjust the Grow/Shrink Emphasis, and the
Motion Path move, in that order. But I can't have the fade at the top
of the order, either by adding it first or moving it to the top.

Any solution to this problem?

If there is an animation that starts "after previous," you may not be able
to move animations as you expect. I would right-click in the custom
animation pane and choose "show advanced timeline." That will make it easier
to see what animations start when and what's going on in general.

I tried opening the advanced timeline, but it didn't seem to make any
difference. The funny thing is that it works perfectly fine in
PowerPoint 2003. The problem only occurs in 2007.

The tools I am using are nothing new from PowerPoint 2003. In fact,
what I describe below, works perfectly in version 2003, but for some
reason it just doesn't let me edit the animation in version 2007. The
program even crashed once when I tried to change something.

Hi Alison

I have been able to recreate the animations in 2007 without a problem.
Perhaps try home button -> powerpoint options ->run microsoft office
diagnostics.

Let us know how you get on.

Here's a step by step!
Select the pic add effect > entrance fade
Make sure that the Add Effect box still says ADD and not CHANGE (if it does
select the pic again)
Add Effect > emphasis > grow/shrink
With the 'size" box" CUSTOM change to 70% PRESS ENTER
Again make sure it still says Add Effect
Add the motion path probably change this to with previous

Iv'e uploaded a quick demo at http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/testing.html

This was exactly what I was doing when I encountered the ghosted options
in the "size" box. But what's more I can't reproduce the problem anymore.
I don't know what happened here, the program crashed a couple of times
while I was trying to figure out this problem, last night. But today
everything seems to be working fine...go figure!

Thanks,
