Cursor location when open a new document

I have a large Word document. When I open it it always takes my cursor to
the top of the page even if I save the document with the cursor down in the
body. It is inconvenient to have to figure out where I was previously
reading so I can resume.

Is there a way to freeze the spot when you save a document so when you open
it again the cursor will be at that spot?

Thanks,
John M

Shift+F5 will take you to the last editing position in all versions before
Word 2007 (it's broken in that version).
