Cursor jumping cells and wont accept data

Maggie

Hello
My problem:
When I enter data in the 'date' or 'number' fields the
cursor jumps to a field well below where I am working and
no data is entered.
I have tried the 'troubleshooting' help and reformatted
the cells but the cursor still jumps and no entries appear.
Opening a new file and reformatting doesn't help either.
Does anyone else find 'Help'at times inadequate in as much
I looked under 'cursor', 'active cell', yes, a total fool
I looked for 'cell jumping' 'cursor jumping'.
As you can see I need help.
Thank you, Maggie

A new default Excel workbook worksheet has no "date" or "number" fields. Is
it possible you have a new workbook template that exhibits this behavior? The
jumping could be caused by a macro.

Look in your XLSTART folder for a Book.XLT file. Move it to another folder
temporarily to see if this makes a difference.
